Expo Expert is the website for you from Ben Robertson, about the World Expo
The centrepiece of Astana's Specialised Expo 2017.
In 2017 I took the journey of a lifetime. I visited the country of Kazakhstan to enjoy the Specialised Expo that was organised that year in its capital, Astana.
I was amazed. I was amazed by the grandure of the architecture and the elobarate displays from many of the world's nations all in one place. I was amazed by the spectacle on show and the mix of people from across the globe in one location. I was amazed by the new technology being shown and the positivity that was being showcased for the future.
However there was one thing that I thought was missing from visiting the Expo experience, and that was information about what took place at the Expo. Yes, there is an official site with tickets, travel information and an event calendar. Yes, there are social media updates and press releases from the different pavilions. But there isn't anywhere that guides people around the best bits of the Expo and gives advice about what is a hit, and what you can miss. An on-the-ground guide to getting the most out of your time as a visitor, and ranking each of the pavilions for their user experience.
There is also a secondary aim to creating Expo Expert. One of the fascinating parts of any World Expo is that it gives each nation and exhibitor a chance to build its brand, to showcase its style, to tell its story. But we don't want these stories to disappear. Our aim is to also use this site to showcase not just what is at the World Expo, but each and every story being shared.
And that is what Expo Expert aims to deliver. Our aim is to attend the start of the Expo this year in Osaka in 2025 and visit as many of the different pavilions and exhibitors as possible. Then throughout the weeks and months that follow our aim is to produce guides and information for guests to visitors to the Expo so they get their most out of their time there, and learn more about what is being showcased at the World Expo.
Due to the pandemic meaning I chose not to attend Dubai Expo 2020, and the cancellation of the Specialised Expo in Buenos Aires for 2023, this is the first time I get the opportunity to try the Expo Expert concept.
Should this concept be a success in 2025, I hope to take it further to the other events that the Bureau International des Expositions organises internationally in the future.
